New York’s Winter Jazzfest: ECM bietet die Musik dazu

New York’s Winter Jazzfest is recognised as one of the important events in the improvising calendar, with a multitude of bands performing at numerous venues. For the second year running, the festival includes a concentrated focus on music from ECM at the New School Tishman Auditorium, 63 Fifth Avenue. There, on January 7, you can hear Bill Frisell with Thomas Morgan (watch out for a great new album coming in the Spring), the duo of Ravi Coltrane and David Virelles, Nik Bärtsch’s Mobile with Sha, Kaspar Rast and Nicolas Stocker, and Jakob Bro’s trio with Thomas Morgan and Joey Baron. As consolation for those unable to be in New York in the New Year, selected albums by the featured musicians are to be found in this week’s Special Offer.
