Blick ins Atelier: Stefano Bianco

Busto
anno 2007
Pietra di Vicenza gialla
Basamento in pietra di Vicenza grigia
cm. 60 x 40 - h cm. 70

Stefano Bianco was born in Milan on 19th May 1947. He started his activity in the eighties with the "hand made“ bricks. His activity ranged over several fields, from figurative to integrated sculpture, indoor architecture, passing through design: fireplaces, tables, lamps and objects come from a research on the interaction between art and every day life. In 1990 he held his “scuplture lessons” at the social centre Garibaldi in Milan. The ”exhibition” (if we can call it like this) ”Perdiletto” in 1992 saw the participation of great names of the artistic Italian culture such as Michelangelo Antonioni, Luca Formenton, Yoshi Nagasaka and Kőbi Wiesendanger, Alessi designer (il Giorno 24th April 1993 - Corriere della Sera 25th April 1993). In 1997 he moved to the hills in the castle Dal Verme of Zavattarello and collaborated to the restoration of the old castle creating several works.
During the following years he got nearer to the sacral art realizing the S.Gottardo stone pulpit which is placed in 1999 in the Jubilar church of S.Luca in Pavia. In 2000 he started to carve a Verona stone altar showing a pomegranate tree symbol of the San Giovanni di Dio brotherhood for the Church. On the 21st October 2001 in Albuzzano (Pv) five bas-relieves in Sarnico stone representing the history of the village were placed in the counselling Chamber of the Town Hall.
On the 25th April 2003, on the occasion of the commemoration of the liberation of Italy, two bas-relieves representing events of the Second World War are unveiled.

Lately the artist has been devoting himself to developing his formal research and using the potential of the Internet has been keeping in touch with international realities. However he is still dedicating his work to private purchasers.
